European Legacy Masters Qualifier - 22/4/2023 - Tournament Rapport

European Legacy Masters Qualifier (April 22nd)

This Saturday, April 22nd, we at The Card Collective, hosted a qualifier tournament for the European Legacy Masters, in collaboration with Spilforsyningen. The players had the opportunity to win store credits, promo cards as well as an invitation to the European Legacy Masters Tournament in Bologna later this year. The tournament is Invite-only and limited to 128 players, so getting an invitation is quite exclusive! Once again, we would like to give a huge thanks to all the participants. We are very grateful for your support and continuously good behavior, and we hope to see you all again the next time we host a ELM Qualifier. Furthermore, a big thank you to European Legacy Masters for joining forces with us to host the tournament.

Naturally, the qualifier was played in the Legacy-format, with 23 players from across the country, and a small handfull of players taking the trip all the way from Germany, in order to participate. The field of decks was rather diverse, with some of the most commons decks such as Delver, 8-Cast, Mono Red Painter and Taxes being represented, as well as more interesting decks such as Mono White Painter, Dredge, Goblins and Aluren Combo.
The players slung spells and attacked with creatures through 5 rounds of swish, before the Top 8 play-off took place. After the 5 rounds of swiss, the 8 players that placed the highest in the Swiss was:

1) Anders Rune Jensen - Mono Red Prison
2) Troels Skov Pedersen - Mono White Painter
3) Brian Andersen - Death & Taxes
4) Niels Thiim - Sneak & Show
5) Bertram Hansen - Orzhov Hammertime
6) Jesper Christensen - Aluren Wish
7) Marian Will - Yorion Death & Taxes
8) Sophus Graarup - Mono Red Prison

The 8 players then fought in an intense top 8, fighting for Glory, Storecredit and the invitation for the European Legacy Masters Tournament!

The finals of the tournament pitted Jesper Christensen with his Sultai Aluren deck against Niels Thiim playing Sneak and Show. The two finalists decided to split the finals, as Niels would have been unable to attend the ELM, so the invitation was given to Jesper.

The final standing after the Top 8 play-off were:

1) Jesper Christensen - Aluren Wish

2) Niels Thiim - Sneak & Show

3) Anders Rune Jensen - Mono Red Prison

4) Marian Will - Yorion Death & Taxes

5) Troels Skov Pedersen - Mono White Painter

6) Brian Andersen - Death & Taxes

7) Bertram Hansen - Orzhov Hammertime

8) Sophus Graarup - Mono Red Prison

A big congratulations to Jesper Christensen for taking home the Qualification to ELM! We hope to see you do well in Bologna later this year!

Once again, thank you to everyone who participated in the tournament, it was a pleasure as usual!
